Thomas Rafferty
Thomas Rafferty spent five years working in casinos starting as a table games and poker dealer for the River Casino & Sports Bar before being promoted to shift manager and subsequently Director of Gaming. As a member of the executive development team, he then worked to expand the company to open its second Nashua location, the Lucky Moose Casino & Tavern, as the Corporate Director of Gaming & Technology.
Through his work on the casino floor, Rafferty observed that casino gaming was simply entertainment for most customers. However, for a small minority it was destructive. For these customers, policies were developed for casino management to intervene and, where customers were observed or expressed that they were hurting themselves, options for self-banning were presented. Rafferty knows the New Hampshire Council for Responsible Gaming can create a real difference by minimizing the harm of gaming while not infringing on the liberties of those who can enjoy it responsibly.
Thomas studied philosophy and economics at Vassar College before pivoting to computer programing. After the sale of the Nashua casinos in 2023, he has split his time working for Community Investments Global, LLC as their VP of Operations along with helping other organizations build and execute day-to-day operations. He lives in Nashua with his wife and daughter.
